A collection of meaningful projects I have had the privilege to design, work on, and complete.
Custom Grateful Dead Crewneck
Using an old crewneck and a thrifted B&W tye-dye t-shirt, I cut and sewed on the Lightning Skull from The Grateful Dead. To get the pattern, I freehand sketched the skull onto cardstock and cut a pattern big enough to cover the majority of the back of the crew. Using the pattern to cut out the fabric from the t-shirt, I used my sewing machine to sew on the skull, eight individual teeth, and the “G” ; a homage to TGD, as well as my first initial.
Custom DiscoLines Hoody

The original inspiration for this custom piece came from seeing a vintage terry-cloth children’s towel at a thrift store with light blue stars bordering the perimeter. I had the idea to individually cut out the blue stars and sew them around the outside of the hood of a sweatshirt. I bought the towel, sourced a vintage team-fit hoody from Depop, and used an old golf polo for the fabric lettering from Goodwill. I created a custom “bubble” font in Procreate, transferred the file into Adobe Illustrator, and used specific settings to print out the lettering onto multiple pieces of printer paper that were big enough to cover the dimensions of the back of the garment. By taping the pieces of paper together and layering them onto cardstock, I was able to create a custom pattern that could be used to cut fabric lettering that was ready to sew.
For longevity, I used Fray Check to meticulously go around the border of all eleven terry-cloth stars and ten letters to avoid fraying and peeling. After drying, I sewed the lettering and stars on by getting as close to the border of each letter/star as possible. Every design aspect including color, number of stars, and font held symbolism.
The piece was completed over the course of five weeks as I worked on it after shifts and school.
